The 13th annual meeting of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS XIII) was held at the University of California , Los Angeles (UCLA), May 2-4, 2003. A total of 33 papers were read, of which 23 are presented here. These papers reflect studies in various linguistic sub-disciplines, and discuss SEAsian languages from 5 different families: Austronesian: Balinese, Indonesian, Malagasy, Malay, Pendau; Mienic; Mon-Khmer: Khmer, Pacoh; Sino-Tibetan: Anong, Bisu, Dolakha Newar, Lai, Pyen; Tai-Kadai: Thai, Proto-Be-Tai.
